Orientation week…

Alright, I know it’s been awhile but this week has been tough. I think i’ve tried to write this post like 5 or 6 times but each time i fall asleep or it gets deleted. This week was orientation week and if I would love to be able to write out everything i did in detail, but to give you an idea the days were on average 13 hours long and I simply do not have the time nor the writing ability to keep you entertained if i tried. So I’m just going to list everything out and put in links and images where i see fit. So here you go my entire week in 500 words or less (or i’ll at least try)

Joshua Marston, and NYU Tisch Alumni came and showed his film, Maria Full of Grace, to us. He then had a Q&A session with us. Later in the week he gave us a workshop on directing. He’s a genius, I can only hope to be able to do what he did when I’m out of this program. Watch his film. Here’s the trailer

Oh and of course we met our faculty. They’re a nice bunch. They also expect us to be as good as them. I wouldn’t say I’m not up to the challenge…but I’m not sure there is a word that describes my sense of doom at this moment that is rated PG. (this is a Kid friendly blog everyone!)

We have a lot of Parties. I think they try to give us lots of free booze so that we can drown our sorrows now… before we get too busy to remember what sorrows are. Sadly i don’t enjoy alcohol, which means i remember everything.

The next few days have been just about getting us aquatinted with the camera equipment. For our first project is shot on 16mm film and is in black and white with no dialogue or music.

and finally we ended the week with….

Another screening! WE got a special screening of local singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo’s film, “My Magic” It has only premiered at cannes and we were the first to be able to see it IN singapore. So that was a treat. We also had a Q&A with the cast and crew along with Eric Khoo himself. I also got an autographed poster!!!

Lastly, I have officially moved into my new apartment! but that will be another post with pictures and all…when i actually get internet to my place… So that is all, for orientation week. This post only took me 4 days to write.
